DO YOU WANT TO PLAY SCRABBLE?
Scrabble is a 2-4 player word game where players score points by placing letter tiles on a
grid. The goal is to maximize scores using premium squares (Double/Triple Letter/Word scores) and by playing all seven tiles (a "Bingo" for +50 points). Valid words are found in standard dictionaries, excluding proper nouns, abbreviations, or hyphenated words.
Core Rules & Gameplay
- Starting: Each player draws 7 tiles; the player with the letter closest to 'A' (blank beats 'A') goes first.
- First Word: The first word must cover the center star (H8), which is a Double Word Score.
- Valid Moves: Words must be placed horizontally or vertically. All letters must connect to existing tiles.
- Replacing Tiles: After playing, draw new tiles from the bag to maintain 7 on the rack.
- Passing/Exchanging: A player may pass or exchange any number of tiles, skipping their turn.
- End of Game: The game ends when all tiles are gone and one player uses their last letter, or when all players pass twice consecutively.
Scoring & Bonuses
- Letter/Word Premiums: Letter premiums apply only on the first turn the square is used. Word premiums are applied after letter premiums.
- Bingo: Playing all seven tiles in a single turn earns a 50-point bonus.
- Final Scoring: Unused tiles on a player’s rack are deducted from their score. If a player empties their rack, the sum of all other players' remaining tiles is added to their score.
Forbidden Words & Moves
- Proper nouns, abbreviations, prefixes/suffixes, and words requiring hyphens or apostrophes are invalid.
- Tiles cannot be moved once "submitted".
- If a played word is challenged and found to be invalid, the player removes the tiles and loses that turn.
